| What is Rattleware? Rattleware is a line of smallwares designed for today's specialty coffee market. The Rattleware Brand represents high quality products which are designed to promote quality coffee preparation and efficient café operations. What's in a name? What does the word Rattleware mean and why did we choose this name? Selecting a name was a difficult task. We chose Rattleware because it has meaning on several levels. Rattleware is a common but seldom used term from the restaurant supply industry for the category of smallwares; items which are small and individually insubstantial, but can be grouped by size and material. This seemed a very appropriate description for the individual tools and smallwares required in an espresso bar. In addition, the root word Rattle, commonly means to make a rapid succession of short sharp noises, but also implies a general clatter and din. The rattling from the hard surfaces of smallwares banging together, whether in a box or a bus tub, is common in the atmosphere of a lively espresso bar. The word Ware also has several meanings, most generally goods and merchandise, but more specifically, manufactured articles, products of art or craft, and is frequently used in combination, dinnerware or tinware for example. It seemed a perfect compliment to Rattle. The combination, Rattleware, invoked for us the bustling clatter of a busy café. The "rapid succession of short sharp noises made by manufactured articles" could be the grinding, tamping and stirring in an espresso bar. Or it could mean, "to chatter and move with a clatter or rattle while producing art or craft", the work of a skilled Barista. Rattleware is well on the way to becoming the preeminent brand of Specialty Coffee Smallwares. What is the relationship between Espresso Supply and Rattleware? Espresso Supply, Inc is the company behind the design and manufacturing of the Rattleware product line. Rattleware Brand products can be purchased directly from Espresso Supply or from a local distributor. Why did we decide to introduce this new product line "Rattleware"? Espresso Supply has a long history of bringing the necessary coffee tools to cafes and espresso bars, starting with the Bean Scale Scoop and the first Aluminum Tamper (both products from 1995) to the Biscotti Jar Gasket. We have always been willing to produce products which filled a specific need for our customers and were otherwise unavailable. The Rattleware Brand is a natural evolution of that process, a comprehensive group of products, united under a single brand name. Customers will know the products are well designed and backed by years of experience. Bringing necessary tools and products to the specialty coffee industry is not new for us, only the name Rattleware. We haven't changed what we were doing; only what we are calling it. What makes Rattleware products different from the same product types that you have sold in the past? In the past we have contributed our expertise and smallwares knowledge to many manufacturers trying to capture the specialty coffee market, often without success, when the function of an item was not clearly understood by the manufacturer. It became increasingly clear that to bring our customers the benefit of our years of experience, we would need to work directly with the factories. We are responsible for the quality and design of the products. We also have the flexibility to use customer feedback to improve products over time. Where can I buy Rattleware products?
